Deadliest Animals

An interactive scrollytelling story about the animals associated with the most human deaths — and the gap between what feels frightening and what actually causes the most deaths. The story begins with familiar predators, then repeatedly changes scale as snakes, humans, and mosquitoes enter the picture.

Created as a MakeoverMonday project using data from Our World in Data. Animated polar-area charts, changing radial scales, tooltips, methodology notes, and interactive filtering let readers move from perception to scale while keeping uncertainty visible.

Climate Data Story

Pacific Heat Rings

An interactive data story exploring 176 years of sea-surface temperature anomalies across 21 Pacific countries and territories. Each concentric ring represents one place, while years run clockwise from 1850 to 2025, revealing how warmer anomalies become increasingly dominant toward the present.

Built with data from the Pacific Data Hub, the project combines a circular timeline with scrollytelling, filtering, tooltips, and individual country histories. Readers can move between the shared Pacific-wide warming signal and the distinct history of each place, with source-provided uncertainty shown rather than hidden.

Every Second Breath

Every Second Breath visualizes the 2024 North Atlantic phytoplankton spring bloom as a seasonal pulse of microscopic ocean life. Using Copernicus Marine Service biogeochemical data, the project follows chlorophyll-a from a hemispheric spring signal into the North Atlantic bloom.

The story connects phytoplankton biomass, nutrients, oxygen, carbon, and surface pCO₂ to reveal how this annual bloom links marine ecosystems and the atmosphere. Framed as part of the ocean's breath, it transforms a complex oceanographic process into an accessible narrative about life, climate, and planetary systems.

Noise Solution Impact Story

An interactive impact dashboard designed to keep the human story at the center of the data. The project combines participant journeys, reflective measures, and qualitative insights to explore how confidence, connection, and wellbeing evolve through music mentoring.

Built around wellbeing, engagement, and Self Determination Theory (SDT) metrics, the dashboard blends quantitative indicators with participant voices to create a more accessible and emotionally grounded view of impact.

A polished interactive bubble plot built from scratch using the Gapminder dataset, exploring global development patterns through GDP, life expectancy, and population data.

The project focuses on reusable chart architecture, including custom axis components, margin and translation systems, and scalable styling patterns. Inspired by Hans Rosling's iconic presentations, the project translates one of the most recognizable datasets in data visualization into a modern web experience.
